Leonard J 'Euro' at the European 7s championships

England Women beat Spain 20 pts-12 to become the European 7s Champions at Hannover in Germany. LCpl Jane Leonard RE played in the group rounds against France, Spain, Portugal and Sweden. She scored twice in the semi-final against Germany and then played in incident packed clash with Spain. At one stage the England team was reduced to five players and in a nail biting passage were 12pts-10 adrift. A full side and two well worked tries restored the proper order of things. Jane said “Absolutely brilliant experience—such an atmosphere with 5,000 spectators and big screens showing everything in slow motion”

Gary Street, England head coach added "the squad showed incredible determination to come back from being two players down. The guts, courage and honour these players have is incredible"
