I was just looking through some old photographs of my Grandfather's
life and came across this one, did some research and came across
the Army Rugby website. I see the winners are there but thought
you might like a photo of the runners up 1st battalion the Gloucestershire
Regiment of which my Grandfather was a proud and active member for
much of his formative years. His name was Walter Rose and he is
the one with the cap middle of the back row and the only one without
a moustache.

ARU comment:
The 1913 Army Cup was fought between the 2nd Bn Welch Regt and the
1st Bn Gloucestershire Regt, the Welch Regt won 9-3. A copy of the
photograph is contained in the Mclaren's History of the Army
Rugby, but the names the player identified by Stephen Worgan
as Organ. (see listing above). |
