Andy Hickling, Director Elite Rugby, held an Elite training day on 12 Oct 2004 at Aldershot. This was the 5th Elite day to be held since the Army v Navy match.
Players involved included,
- The Senior XV squad, based on last seasons team and individuals who have impressed to date this season,
- the Sevens squad, and
- selected individuals from the Academy.
It was particularly pleasing to see seasoned internationals, and current premiership players, mixing and training with the young up-and-coming Army stars of the future.
Players were put through their paces by the Senior XV backs coach, Andy Sanger.
Andy Hickling stated after the event that not only was he highly impressed by Andy's session, but that the quality of players and fitness levels bodes well for the coming season.
The Elite players have a busy period prior to Christmas, with civilian club players fighting for league points, 18 players representing the Combined Services against the Barbarians in November, the Academy competing for the U21 Inter Service title and the Sevens team participating in the Singapore and New York International competitions.
The next Elite training day is to be held, in Aldershot, on the 8th December.
