Army Women (10) vs England Students (19)
- 3 Feb 05

The Army Women Squad met at ATR Winchester to prepare for this fixture on Thursday 03rd February, training started slowly with a lot of the Squad missing due to work and course commitments. However the remainder of the squad soon got into the training and what was required of them against England Students (and this annual fixture). Again led by the ever-present Army Captain LCpl Jessika Limbert and Director Of Women's Rugby Sgt Gareth Ivory.

The squad met at Aldershot ready for the game ahead, and finally the whole squad was present in time to have a final run out before kick off, only one hour away.

England Students started the game strong and the Army side fought back hard and fast, containing England, however a few handling errors soon led to England putting more pressure on the Army and scoring in the corner. The Army then started to get into their game plan and after some good plays from both sides, England again found gaps wanting in the Army defence this time with the try being converted. Pressure was then put on England and only some strong defence kept the Army out, with half time looming and some decisions going against the Army, England finished the half with a try being converted to go in 19-0 up.

With both sides going into the changing rooms it was time to take stock of the first half. The Director taking the lead as ever, informing the squad that this score could be over turned, and it was about time that Self Belief as well as Team Belief was raised and they had the beating of this England Students side.

The Army side came out far stronger and all fired up ready for the second half. This was indeed the best game that the Army had played all season and they started to get into their game and indeed take on the England Students again, however this time breaking down their strong defence and scoring in the corner. Led by Fly Half SSgt Martina Ashton the Backs started to take on the England Students and with a platform from the forwards another try was scored, with their heads up and fire in the belly the Army kept hammering at the Students, however the students dug deep and kept them out, changes where made to the original line up and the game finished 19-10 to England.

Results: Army Women 10 England Students 19
