Posted: 1 Jul 10It is our sad duty to report that one of our Hon Vice Presidents, Brig RNRP James CBE passed away at home after a short illness on Sunday 13 Jun 2010. His memorial service will take place at Malvern Priory, Church Street, MALVERN, WR14 2AY on Wednesday 30 June at 1.30pm.

The 2010-2011 ARU Premiership will be contested by 14 unit sides. This will be the biggest Premiership competition ever and promises to be a high level of rugby. With last season’s winner, 2 Royal Welsh and the previous season’s winner 1 Scots, now back from operations we are guaranteed some excellent rugby. The competition will have two leagues of seven teams that will play each other in a round robin of matches. This will be followed by the knock out stages early next year with the finals scheduled for March 16th at Aldershot. The teams for this coming season are: 2 Royal Welsh, 17 P&M Regt RLC, 12 Regt RA, 1 PWRR, 1 Rifles, 19 Regt RA, 3 Yorks, 1 WG, 23 Pioneer RLC, 4 Regt RA, 2 PWRR, 1 Scots, ARRC Sup Bn & 2 Rifles.

The Army Rugby Union position of Director of Finance will become available from 1 August 2010. The position which is part of the ARU management board (MB) is to provide the MB with timely financial management information that will allow it to exercise effective fiduciary governance over the Army Rugby Union.

Posted: 13 Jun 10Army Unit Sevens Competition - Wed 12 May 2010 - Change of winners
17 Port & Maritime Regiment RLC won the Army rugby unit 7s competition
on Wed 12 May 2010 beating 1 Scots in the final. The Regt have since
realized they played a non eligible player in that competition and
because of this have informed the ARU that they wish to retire
themselves from the competition. The ARU Community Committee has
therefore awarded the trophy for the 2010 season to 1 Scots.
